Q: Help! I can’t find your products in my area. Where can I find them?
A. Many items from our current product lines are available at your local Costco, Mills Fleet Farm, Blain's Farm and Fleet, Marc's, Shoprite and many other brick and morter stores nationwide! If you would rather purchase our products online, feel free to visit:
Q: I prefer to buy your products online. How can I do that?
A: Please visit www.RawhideDepot.com to view the most popular items in our current product line and place your order.
Q: Why does your package say I should wash my hands after handing the treats?
A: This recommendation is made as a matter of proper safe food handling procedures, and good personal hygiene.
Q: I have a small dog weighing less than 20 lbs. Your packaging says that the product should not be given to small/toy dogs under 20 lbs. Can you tell me why?
A: We recommend that some of our products not be fed to small or toy breed dogs due to some safety issues which have arisen regarding possible choking hazards. Dogs this small normally have a small esophagus and swallowing large pieces or a whole treat can result in blockage of the animal’s windpipe.
Q: I recently bought IMS dog treats and noticed that the package says on it “not for human consumption”. Why is it safe for my dog, but not for me?
A: IMS Trading Corp. is a licensed manufacturer/importer/distributor of products for canine consumption only therefore, our licensing requires this labeling.
Q: I am concerned about the safety of products that come from China and I noticed that many of your dog treat items are from there. What do you do to be sure your products are safe for my dog?
A: We understand your concerns and we at IMS share them as pet owners ourselves which is why we require international suppliers to test products for any chemical and microbial contamination prior to shipment. Suppliers must submit written documentation of the test results from the testing laboratories. Upon arrival in US ports of entry, we voluntarily re-test every shipment to confirm the results which were reported to us. If any shipment fails confirmation testing, it is refused and returned to the supplier.
Our shipments are also FDA inspected, tested, and approved before any products can be shipped to distributors.
Q: The package of treats I recently purchased says that the treats are “irradiated”. What does that mean, and why is it done?
A: Irradiation is a process where the treats are exposed to low dose gamma rays (similar to dental x-rays) for a period of approximately 16 hours. Irradiation is used to guarantee that there is no microbial contamination such Salmonella or E.coli present in the treats to cause serious illness in your pet.
Q: I have heard from friends, and have read on the Internet, that rawhide from other countries has formaldehyde in it. Do your rawhide products also have formaldehyde in them?
A: This question frequently comes to our attention, and we want to assure all consumers that we do not at any time use formaldehyde in the processing of any of our treats! Our rawhide is washed in a water and hydrogen peroxide solution to clean it. The batch is tested continuously throughout cleaning until it tests zero percent for hydrogen peroxide. Only at that point is the rawhide used to produce the various items in our product line.
